Sinkholes are common where the rock below the land surface is limestone or other carbonate rock, salt beds or rocks that can naturally be dissolved by circulating ground water. As the rock dissolves, spaces and caverns develop underground. Sinkholes may vary in size from 1 to 600 meters both in diameter and depth.

It is a very immense and wonderful place to behold. From a distance, it looks like a wide white still sea.

The Salar was formed as a result of transformations between several prehistoric lakes. It is covered by a few meters of salt crust, which has an extraordinary flatness with the average altitude variations within one meter over the entire area of the Salar.

Fly Geyser, also known as Fly Ranch Geyser is a small man-made geothermal geyser that is located approximately 20 miles north of Gerlach, in Washoe Country, Nevada. This was created accidentally in 1964 from a geothermal test well inadequately capped. Its glorious color of multiple hues of green and red that adds to its fascinating appearance is due to thermophilic algae thriving in the extreme micro-climate of the geysers. But a view from afar is all you can attempt because the place is not open to public. There is a high fence and a locked gate with several metal spokes on the top to keep trespassers out. Though several organizations have tried to purchase the land for conservation, and make it open to the public, the owner resolutely refused.

White Desert (known as Sahara el Beyda, with the word sahara meaning a desert) is the main geographic attraction of Farafra. It is located 45 km north of Farafara. The Farafra desert is a typical place visited by some schools in Egypt, as a location for camping trips. The Desert was also the featured location in the music video for "Echoes" by the Klaxons.

'Chocolate Hills' in Bohol, Philippines

The Chocolate Hills is an unusual geological formation in Bohol province, Philippines. There are at least 1,260 hills but there may be as many as 1,776 hills spread over an area of more than 50 square kilometres. They are covered in green grass that turns brown during the dry season, hence the name. They look like giant mole hills. Others even describe them as "women's breasts".

It is such a wonderful place to explore!

Richat Structure in Mauritania

The Richat Structure, also known as the Eye of the Sahara and Guelb er Richat, is a prominent circular feature in the Sahara desert of west–central Mauritania near Ouadane. This structure is a deeply eroded, slightly elliptical, 40-km in diameter, dome. The sedimentary rock exposed in this dome range in age from Late Proterozoic within the center of the dome to Ordovician sandstone around its edges. It has attracted attention since the earliest space missions because it forms a conspicuous bull's-eye in the otherwise rather featureless expanse of desert. It is initially interpreted as an asteroid impact structure because of its high degree of circularity; it is now argued to be a highly symmetrical and deeply eroded geologic dome.

Family with Hypertrichosis

A story of a Nepalese family touched my heart and made me realize that if there are people who are so blessed in almost every aspect of their lives, there are also those who seem to be cursed. Their story circles around their journey, with the hope that there would be a concern citizen who would help them cure their rare condition.

This family suffers from what is called as Hypertrichosis, also known as Ambras Syndrome. Hypertrichosis is an abnormal amount of hair growth on the body. Extensive cases of hypertrichosis have informally been called werewolf syndrome. It has two distinct types: generalized hypertrichosis, which occurs over the entire body, and localized hypertrichosis, which is restricted to a certain area.

The family had been teased for their condition; so they traveled to Kathmandu, their country's capital, to look for assistance for the cure of this congenital condition.

With the consultation they attended, they found out that they could be cured by a laser therapy. This gave them hope that, at least, they could still live life normally -free from constant taunts from others.

"My children have talked about the new life ever since we received the word the hospital is going to treat us."

They are only among those who feel so intimidated and scorned because of their "peculiarity". They often become the subject of mockery. 10. Coffee berries are picked, dried and stripped down until all that's left is a green bean. Once shipped, the beans are roasted at around 500F.
